Saving Money is Hard When There's So Much Cool Stuff to Buy

September 30th, 2012 (11:53 pm)
cold

Jamming To: The Life I Lead-Mary Poppins OST

Holy crap, where did September go?

October's going to be awesome, what with the first season of Digimon being released on DVD (finally!) and Pokémon Black 2 coming out-both are going to be out in stores within a day or so of each other!  Awesome!

So, I think the bag I carry around with me is finally beginning to die.  It's worn in places and there're holes in the inner compartments.  Also, with my tendency to lug several books around with me at once, it's too small.  I have my eye on a pretty cool Rainbow Dash messenger bag, but I won't be able to get it until my next payday, as I need to keep hold of money to pay for my reserved copy of Black 2 and the bag itself costs $40 plus whatever the shipping fee is. Soon, though.

There are so many things I want to buy, though.  I'm forcing myself to not spend my money all over the place anymore ( figure getting one game/DVD/book/whatever with each paycheck is fine-just one, though).  But still, thanks to some videos I found on You Tube I've been introduced to the wonderful Japanese Re-Ment miniatures and the awesome Whipple craft sets.  They both appeal to me because I collect miniatures.  Unfortunately, the only place near where I live that sells miniatures is Hobby Lobby, and while the stuff they have is pretty cool they have a small selection.  Amazon has a decent number of Re-Ment packages for sale, but I'm hesitant to buy them as they're blind bags and I don't want to risk getting several of the same thing (two of one item is fine, but three is pushing it).  I might get one eventually, though.  And as Wal*Mart doesn't stock the American version of the Whipple sets anymore and the nearest Toys R Us to my house is about 45 minutes away, I'll have to rely on Amazon for that, too, when I finally decide to buy them.

I do have one question, though.

Why does Japan get all the cool stuff? :P

Until Next Time,
Cheers.~♪

I Never Get Sick This Time of Yeart\

July 31st, 2012 (11:53 pm)
sick

Jamming To: Medli's Awakening-The Wind Waker OST

Except I recently did. I've had a cold since last Tuesday and had the brilliant idea of going on a hike on Wednesday, which of course made said cold worse.  I'm feeling better now but my throat is still pretty scratchy.  I have the feeling that if I hadn't gone on that hike I would have gotten over it sooner.  Oh, well.

When I'm feeling 100% better I'll finally get around to putting a real entry together.  Yeah, I know I've said that before, but this time I mean it.  Really.

Until Next Time,
Cheers.~♪

Kitties. Kitties Everywhere

June 30th, 2012 (10:01 pm)
tired

I Feel: Tired

So we seem to have more or less acquired a third cat. She's this really beautiful brown and tan cat with bright blue eyes. She's very friendly and a chatterbox. We had seen her around the neighborhood a lot of times, but only recently has she seemed to have adopted us as hers. We thought she looked like she belonged to someone, as she looked pretty chubby, but up close we realized it was just her fluffy fur making her look well-fed. I could feel her spine and her ribs when I pet her, so obviously she's not getting enough food. We've taken to feeding and watering her every time she shows up at our house. My brother named her Kiki.

But what makes me mad is the fact that she's declawed, which means someone owned her at one point. They took her means to defend herself away and turned her loose. She was hurt when we first started taking care of her, so obviously no one has a claim to this cat or her injuries wouldn't have been in the state they were when she came to us. We're taking care of Kiki now, but still...

Whoever her old owners were, they were idiots.

PONIES PONIES PONIES

creative

Jamming To: End Credits-Star Trek: First Contact OST

I suppose I can take comfort in the fact that, even though I haven't been updating this as much as I like, at least I'm updating it, unlike my Dreamwidth account. :P

So, despite my misgivings, after looking into the series and receiving encouragement from a guy friend to watch it, I finally decided to give the new My Little Pony animated series a chance. And, as seems to be normal for me, I found myself wondering why I didn't give it a chance earlier. The last time I found an animated series that was so good it was this addictive-where I sit down to watch just one episode and the next thing I know I've watched six-was Avatar: The Last Airbender; I made it through the entire first season and a good deal of the second in less than a week. Don't ask me who my favorite pony is, though, I like them all as I see a bit of myself in each of them-I love reading like Twilight Sparkle, I'm stubborn like Applejack, I'm good with animals like Fluttershy, I can be very competitive like Rainbow Dash, and I'm a perfectionist with certain things like Rarity. The characters are all so-well rounded it's hard NOT to see yourself in them, and that's what makes an animated series a GREAT one.

It's made me want to start buying the toys again-something I haven't done since I was little (the Blind Bags are only $2.50! $2.50! That's freaking CHEAP!)-and I plan on purchasing the series through iTunes as well. I just hope that Hasbro plans on releasing the seasons on DVD sometime in the future; I'm interested in seeing what special features they'd include-concept art, story ideas, words from the fans, etc. I'm just glad that I have a DVR to record the HD episodes for when they start airing the third season...whenever that is.

So what else have I been up to? Well, as usual, I have been busy writing. My method of writing that prevents writer's block is working, so I'm no longer worried about having to put stories on indefinite hiatus to to lack of inspiration. One of these days I'll go back and apply what I've learned to the stories of mine that ARE stuck in hiatus-land and use the writing method to get them back on their feet again, but right now I want to focus on my Transformers stories.

Meanwhile the stack of books and DVDs I plan to get through this summer keeps getting higher and higher. Right now I've promised myself that I won't watch any other DVD until I finish the ones I've pulled out-the last five episodes of Beast Wars and the first volume of the second season of Transformers G1-and I won't start any new book until I'm done reading the three I'm currently working on-Redwall, Michael Vey, and The Capture.

I also got my Pottermore account, and to my disappointment I got sorted into the wrong house-Gryffindor instead of Ravenclaw. And you know what? The same thing happened to my mom-she's a Gryffindor and got sorted into Ravenclaw! We had a good laugh about being put into each others' houses, and now my story is that I'm a Ravenclaw going undercover as a Gryffindor (with that mindset I might as well be a Slytherin, XD). While it's not the house I wanted to be in and I'm still disappointed, it's nothing worth not going onto the awesome website over.

Besides, I can satisfy myself with the knowledge that I'm finally saving up for our trip to Orlando next year, and I'll be able to stock up on Ravenclaw merch at the Universal Studios Harry Potter park.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got some ponies to watch.

Until Next Time,
Cheers.~♪

I Really Need to Update This More

Jamming To: Al's Toy Barn-Toy Story 2 OST

Yeah, so I've been really busy.  I've been picking up more hours at work and in my spare time I've been writing, so I haven't really set any time aside for my journal here.  I plan on changing that.

This summer, I may or my not be apartment-sitting for my brother and sister-in-law.  I'll have to temporarily quit my job here and find one where they live, but I think it'll be fun.  I'll work out the details this weekend; we're heading up there because my sister-in-law is graduating.

I'll scrap together a more decent entry later; I really want to try and finish up the chapter I'm working on right now.

Until Next Time,
Cheers.~♪

Jamming To: You Two-Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Original Cast Recording

Well, I finally got around to linking this account with my Live Journal one.  This is just a test to see if it works.

Yeah, my other project?  I managed to finish one page but it looks like I'll be hard-pressed to finish it in my normal style as I got sick this week and haven't really felt like drawing.  I've also been writing more of Day of the Black Sun Chapter Eleven despite my resolve to set it aside until my PMD comic is finished.  Eh, Fail, I guess.

Until Next Time,
Cheers.~♪

Okay, remember how I said our service provider was lame? Well, we switched over to Comcast.

It's decidedly weird and cool to have cable after not having it for YEARS. The best part? We get The Hub, which means I don't have to rely on You Tube for episodes of Transformers anymore.

I'll scrape together a real entry later; right now I'm too tired. But it's great to have Internet that actually WORKS again.

Finally Finished Avatar, Yay!

Jamming To: Sentinel Prime-Dark of the Moon OST

Our Internet is being crappy and our service provider isn't really doing anything to fix it despite our frequent complaints, so I have to rely on my iPhone for Internet usage for the time being.

Not the best, but it works.

Any dang way, remember how I said all I needed to do to finish Avatar was watch the series finale? Well, the reason I kept putting it off was because I only had volumes 1, 2, and 5 of the first season on DVD and was streaming the rest of the series via Netflix on our Wii. The problem with that was that my dad or brother has control over the Wii about 99% of the time, and so I never got the chance to use it.

Then, I was at Target the other day, saw the box set for Season 3, and bought it on impulse.

Holy crap, the finale was AMAZING.

I went back and bought the box set of Season 2 later. I plan on watching the entire series from the beginning again in preparation for Korra, but first I need to buy the box set for Season 1. In the meantime, I've been listening to the commentaries for the episodes that have them.

I know the series is going to be just as epic the second time around.

Until Next Time,
Cheers.

Jamming To: The Alien Ships-Happy Feet OST

After seeing a bunch of my friends here doing so, I decided to create a Dreamwidth account.  I don't know how often I'll update there as I wanted to keep THIS as my main blog, but I'll post occasionally.

So, if you've got an account over there, too, let's be buddies there as well as here!

Here I am over there, right HERE.

Hope to see you over at Dreamwidth whenever I wander over.

Until Next Time,
Cheers.~♪
